Quail Hunting
Georgia History of Quail Hunting
Bird Hunters have enjoyed quail hunting in Georgia for a long time, and their ranks have included some world leaders. Did you know that President Coolidge quail hunted on Sapelo Island in 1928? In 1954, 1958, and 1960, President Eisenhower hunted quail in Georgia. Those were the good old days.

Today, wild quail hunting is rare. Changes in farming tactics is the catalyst of wild quail population declines. Modern agricultural demands have almost decimated the natural quail habitat: wide fence rows, dense undergrowth, and idle thickets. Because of the decline, plantation quail hunting began.

There are literally hundreds of Georgia Quail Plantations. You can find five star accommodations, family owned cooperations, and small outfits that work out of the back of a truck. Bird Hunters can find something for every budget, and we suggest that you do your homework and find one that suits your taste and needs.
